Shelter House BBQ Bash
The newest hangar at the Iowa City Municipal Airport will host a night of food, music and fun at this fundraiser for Shelter House. Enjoy barbecue, beer sponsored by Big Grove Brewery, family-friendly games and music from the Beaker Brothers Band. Sign up to play in the bags tournament for a chance to take home prizes. Tickets include a barbecue meal with a choice of beef brisket, pulled pork or vegetarian, as well as sides and dessert.

Jane Boyd Gospel Brunch
Homemade Southern cooking and live gospel music will provide food for the body and soul. Local talents Erika Stowe and Trina Harris will perform at this benefit for Jane Boyd Community House.

Cedar Rapids Food Truck Fest
More than food trucks will gather in downtown Cedar Rapids for the second annual Cedar Rapids Food Truck Fest. From tacos to barbecue, there is sure to be something for everysone, along with beer poured by host Benz Beverage Depot.

Help NewBo City Market celebrate its fifth birthday with local food, beer, wine, gifts and music. The evening includes a Taste of NewBo, featuring hors d’oeuvres and special creations from market vendors, along with goody bag gifts from retail vendors. Each ticket also includes a commemorative NewBo Bash pint glass and two complimentary drinks from NewBo Beer and Wine. Three bars will be open serving Iowa beers and wines along with distinctive cocktails featuring juices from Get Fresh and coffee from Roasters. The Roots of Rhythm trio and Crankshaft will provide musical entertainment, along with a special performance by Cedar Rapids Mayor Ron Corbett.

Eight metro Rotary Clubs are banding together for a chili cook-off. The event is Sunrise Rotary’s primary fundraiser in support of various causes, including Matthew 25, high school scholarships and exchange students. Attendees can taste chili galore and vote for their favorite using cash. The chili that raises the most money will win the competition. Tickets include dinner, drinks and dessert.
